The French government intends to introduce in schools across the country singing the national anthem. Such measures are being taken by politicians in the campaign against "Islamic fundamentalism" and to "revive the national pride."
The program also will include lectures for adults, including on "The History of Christianity and liberal political institutions," The Daily Telegraph reports.
French Immigration Minister Eric Besson said that foreigners should learn to speak French better.
"We need to reaffirm the value of national identity and pride, being a Frenchman, - he said. - I think it would be good for all young French people to have a chance to sing "La Marseillaise" at least once a year. "
Besson also expressed the view that it is necessary to prohibit the wearing of hijab for women in France, because "it offends the rights of women and is contrary to national values."
