European leaders support Ukraine joining NATO

Publication time: 5 May 2008, 12:30

Presidents of a number of Central and Eastern European states have unanimously supported the admission of all Balkan states and Ukraine into the European Union and NATO.

Ukraine-based UNIAN news agency reported that the statement is contained in the final document of summit conducted by the leaders of Central and Eastern Europe, which was held in the Macedonian city of Ohrid.

According to the opinion expressed by the heads of as many as 17 states, the European Union and NATO will be incomplete without these candidates.

Leaders of Central and Eastern European states have also considered the issues of energy supplies for the future, as well as the situation in independent Kosovo.
