300 thousand Russian kafirs fighting in Caucasus

Publication time: 5 September 2007, 10:40

More than 300 thousand soldiers of Russian army fighting in the Caucasus, according to estimates of western experts, German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine writes.

However, despite the large number of troops Russia cannot crush the resistance, newspaper writes. Moreover, the war zone widens. Following the Ichkeria, Ingushetia and Dagestan became a place of permanent armed clashes.

The situation in these Caucasian republics is only worsens. Mujahideen squads almost every day attack occupiers and local collaborators.

The shift of information accent from Chechnya to Ingushetia and Dagestan happens because Moscow has established a total information blockade in Chechnya, where the war continues and where the occupiers and puppets are getting losses. In other parts of the Caucasus a total blockade is not so tight, although a lie, conceal of the facts and distortion of actual events present everywhere.

"According to various estimates, the number of active underground fighters in the North Caucasus range from several hundred to several thousand men," German paper writes and indicates that Moscow's attempts to take control of the situation, even in tiny Ingushetia, where Moscow recently sent several thousand of Special Forces soldiers, are not successful.

To count on increase of troops and punitive measures do not lead to the desired results. Even local pro-Moscow collaborators are forced to admit this.

Western experts following Russian commentators are trying to understand the situation, but repeated the assertion that "disastrous social situation of the population brings the instability".

The social disorder, unemployment and high fertility rates are the main reasons of instability and conditions for the "Islamist community" (western media propaganda term), which "by forming loyal Jamaats establishes effective paramilitary structures."

Regarding particularly Ingushetia Putin's adviser, the Chechen collaborator General Aslakhanov said that "Ingush refugees from North Ossetia is a solely nutrient medium for unrest."

In other words, according to Aslakhanov the reason of the worsening fighting in Ingushetia in 2007, is displacement of 80,000 Ingushs from North Ossetia in 1992.

Meanwhile, some Russian commentators on the basis of their own perceptions and speculation saw in the deterioration of the situation in Ingushetia a danger that "Islamists" may create a coalition with malcontent to Zyazikov people, inducing them to "terrorist activities".

These ideas, in particular have been shared by the Moscow Carnegie Centre expert Aleksey Malashenko.

The worsening of situation in Dagestan is also due to social factors, the local corrupt regime and the repression of Muslims.

A German expert Dr Uwe Halbach, German Institute for International and Security Affairs, said that despite of all the assurances and triumphal reports of Moscow, the North Caucasus is still remains "a zone of powerlessness of Russian Federation".
