More violence in Somalia

More heavy fighting were seen in Mogadishu and the rest of Somalia in the last 2 days as gunmen where conducting daily ambushes on puppet government installations. Earlier in the day the presidential palace came under attack with gunmen firing heavy mortar rounds at the compound, and the national seaport, following lull in the violence in midday, gunmen resumed their attacks in the afternoon targeting police patrols in the capital sending most of the police force to flee the streets and into their police stations, and as darkness fell in the city heavily armed gunmen attacked the Ambassador Hotel were many ministers and African Officials were residing, heavy fighting was taking palace for some time.

 

In further north of the country in Guriceel and Dhusa mareeb, the terrible base for sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, for a second day in a row gunmen in the city ambushed several columns of  the punt land soldiers who were  heading back to their region, several soldiers were killed and many wounded, many are predicting a terrible war to break out between the two rival region who each represent the leaders of the rival groups (the Islamic courts and the "Government").

 

The president and the prime minister refused to hold talks with the Islamic forces this morning saying that there was no need to make another reconciliation process outraging the European Union and the Arab league who are pushing for an agreement with the Islamic courts, both president and the prime minister fear loosing their positions if another reconciliation process starts.

 

Meanwhile in the Juba regions the Ethiopian forces paraded the captured head of the islamic courts for the Jubba regions, the Ethiopian forces were boasting that they have rescued him from the Americans who where about to take him inside a helicopter. Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Islam told the press from his hospital bed that he suffered serious wounds during the air strikes in a village near the wooded areas, few of his soldiers became Shaheed (insha'Alah) and the rest were wounded but managed to escape, He further said that due to his elderly age he could not run for it as he suffered more than 13 wounds in his body and stayed close to the village as American ground forces with helicopters came on the ground in the village to verify the dead, he said American force were about to take him into the helicopter as Ethiopian and Somalian forces came to the area and prevented the Americans from taking him.

 

Many villagers  in the Jubba regions have reported seeing many of the Islamic forces who are split into small groups roaming the areas trying to find targets or military columns who stray from the city of Kismayo the provisional capital of the Jubba regions.
