Leader of Circassian congress of Adygeya was threatened again

Publication time: 28 December 2006, 14:25

On December 26 the republican public movement "Circassian congress" held an extraordinary sitting of the Council of the organization. The reason for the sitting were direct threats of physical liquidation sounded on the eve to the address of the chairman of the public organization Murat Berzegov, "Caucasian unit" correspondent across Adygeya reported.

"On December 23 about 11 p.m. three unknown men came to me in the street and threatened with weapon" - the chairman of "Circassian congress" stated. According to him those young men did not hide their faces and named themselves patriots of Russia. "They said that their threats were connected with "Circassian congress" activity and threatened to discredit and deprive everything that could be dear".

Let's note that is not the first incident of such threatening to the address of the leader of "Circassian congress". He had been threatened with physical liquidation in spring 2006 on the eve of the Extraordinary congress of the Adygeya people on the question of preservation of Adygeya's status. Under that fact the Office of Public prosecutor of Adygeya Republic instituted a criminal proceeding which some time later was closed.
