Two More US Tanks Destroyed, US Drone Shot Down in Afghanistan

On Sunday night, December 10, 2006, the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Taliban attacked a US  patrol near the city of Maymana, the capital the Faryab province. As the result of the operation,  two US  tanks were destroyed and all Americans onboard were  killed.

 

The  Faryab province "has been one of the more peaceful areas in Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban after the U.S. invasion of 2001", Wikipedia says.

 

On Sunday evening, December 10, 2006, a  US pilotless drone crashed in the  Spara Ghra mountain of Farahrod district in the Farah province. According to local Taliban, the drone was shot down by the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate.

 

On Sunday night, December 10, 2006, the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Taliban attacked a stronghold of British troops in the Takhtapol area 1 km from their headquarters in the  Garamseer district of the Helmand province. The base was destroyed, and the Brits fled to their district headquarters. No information about possible British casualties was available. Two Mujahideen  were wounded  in the action.
