Crazy Mentality of Russian Defense Minister Revealed

Publication time: 6 December 2006, 11:39

A Russian war criminal wanted by Chechen Republic of Ichkeria's law enforcement officers for his crimes against humanity in Chechnya, a "defense minister" Ivanov,  argued on Tuesday that the facts that the Russian defector  Litvinenko, who was fatally poisoned by Russian FSB agents in London last month, " held no water".

"I can't see any reason for the current active speculation in the Western press that it was the long arm of the KGB or FSB, that Litvinenko knew very much as a prominent intelligence agent, which is utterly untrue. At that time, he worked at the organized crime department. That department was set up at the FSB in the mid 90s. They were recruiting outsiders and, as far as I can remember, Litvinenko was recruited into that FSB department from the convoy forces of the Interior Ministry," Ivanov told the Greek daily Eleftherotypia, according to a report from a Russian government news agency.

Ivanov meant that if Mr Litvinenko had known a little bit more than the FBS would have every reason to kill him.

The FSB is an independent Russian terrorist entity that is not subordinate to the Ivanov's "defense ministry". Ivanov didn't explain how he knew that the FSB purportedly haven't kill Mr Litvinenko.

Mr Litvinenko  was charged with state treason after his defection to Britain. The FSB always tries to kill their defected agents. The defector was also a prominent critic of Putin and gave evidence that it was the FSB that blew up residential houses in Moscow in 1999 to have a pretext to start the Second Russian-Chechen War.
