Two-Thirds of Junk Russian Weaponry Obsolete

Publication time: 18 November 2006, 12:50

According to a Russian news report, almost two-thirds of the weaponry used by Russian rocket and artillery troops is outdated, a troops commander said Friday.

"Over 60% of the arms in the rocket and artillery troops have been in service for 10 years, and some for 30 years and more," a colonel general, Zaritsky, said.

Speaking ahead of " Artillery Day" November 19, Zaritsky voiced hope modern arms will account for at least 20% of artillery by 2015.
