Iraqi Mujahideen fighters fired a shoulder-launched rocket into a US tank on 'Antar ibn Shaddad Square in downtown Baghdad. The attack set the tank ablaze and at the time of reporting the vehicle was still burning. US forces then entirely closed off the area where the attack took place and fired at anyone trying to approach, making an accurate assessment of the nature and extent of US losses impossible.
Iraqi Mujahideen forces fired S5K rockets at the US base set up in the Iraqi Presidential Palaces in the southern Baghdad district of ar-Ridwaniyah. The rockets scored direct hits, setting off explosions that rocked the base and sent flames and plumes of smoke rising into the sky from inside.
Three Iraqi Mujahideen bombs exploded by a US patrol in the city of Hit, about 170km northwest of Baghdad. The witnesses said they saw US troops evacuating their dead and wounded but were uncertain as to their number.
