The nest of imperialism,- Russia's embassy has said it knows nothing about a Russian geologist named Pavel V. Korol, who made headlines in Indonesia after he offered to stop the mudflow in Sidoarjo, East Java.
Quoting what it said were reliable sources at the embassy, Antara reported Friday that Russian diplomats had been in contact with geologists at home and had failed to turn up any information on Korol.
"We have been going through the names of Russian geologists, but none of them specialize in dealing with mudflows," an anonymous source told the news agency.
Korol visited Jakarta recently and met with several senior officials, including Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
He reportedly gave the minister a quote of US million to stop the mudflow -- payable only in the event that it was a success -- with a non-refundable advance of million.
The Indonesian government declined the offer, The Jakarta Post reported.
